I found my perfect hat, and will be ordering the black one soon. While it is labeled Stone color, my wife assures me it's Taupe. Perfect, it goes with anything, and I have sportscoats and trousers the same color because Taupe is kind to my color blind eyes. Out of the box, my brand new 7 1/4 hat fit perfectly, after a little stretching by hand of the inside, which took 30 seconds or so. After that initial stretching it was perfect and I moved on to modifying it to my precise needs and wants, which began with borrowing my wifes hand held steamer, filling it with water, and waiting on the steam. I like my Gus Stetsons to have at least 25 -30% of the back crown as high as possible, so I began there and in a minute or two had what I wanted. Next I lowered the front crown crease about 1/2" to 3 1/2" which took another minute or so. Next, rolling each side of the brim where I wanted them focusing on making both sides just right. Out of the box, plus 5 minutes with a hand steamer, and I had what I wanted. I'll add a stampede cord soon and live happily ever after. I think anyone who likes a nice hat at a very reasonable price, will enjoy this hat. The black model of this hat will arrive soon and I'll take it through the same set-up.Not like the Stetson reputation. This was a first for me, every Stetson I’ve ever purchased before was perfect and I have never known them to used hot glue or super glue to hold things together.inner band is plastic not leather. hat is heavyThis is the third Stetson buffalo and fourth Stetson total I have purchased in the last 15 months. I have ordered the 7 5/8 size each time. This hat fits just a bit bigger than the other three, but I prefer a bit large over a bit small. I did replace the hat band on this model right away and would have liked a bigger brim. I rate it less than my 6x Gus and my 4x (yes, 4x) Buffalo Broken Bow, and maybe even under my 4x Seminole Gus Buffalo mainly due to the narrower brim. I wanted a black hat for those times when I feel like wearing a black hat and it does suit this purpose for me better than any other hat I have seen readily available.I have a higher quality Stetson and it is lighter weight with greater detailed quality, but this although slightly heavier weight, is very good quality and well made. It is the first time I have tried a buffalo felt hat and have yet break it in, but I am favorably impressed with it. These hats are fairly stiff when new and take a little use to conform completely to your head. It is one third the price of my beaver felt one and, but at the price, I would consider getting another one in black. It's a great everyday hat.Update: I've had it for over a year now. It has weathered well. It has become my favorite everyday hat. Still looks as good as new.Love my Stetson!
