Whippet is a tear drop crown fedora made of royaldeluxe quality fur felt. The crown is 4 1/2 inches tall and the brim is a 2 3/8 inch wide with a bound edge. This luxury headwear item is fully lined with a satin Stetson lining. The sheepskin sweatband is comfortable and soft. This style features a grosgrain ribbon band with feather trim and a Stetson pin. Each hat is carefully manufactured in our factory located in garland, tx. This hat will be delivered in an individual Stetson hat box. Whippet is a featured style in the 150th. Stetson today has improved its production of fine fur felt fedoras. The ones made today are superior in every way to those made 10 years ago. However they are a far cry from the great quality you will find in a vintage Stetson fedora made in in the 1940’s or 50s or even the 1960s. The fur felt today is made from rabbit when in the past it was a fur blend with lots of beavers, which produced a finer felt that is lighter, more durable and easier to shape. This Whippet reproduction is very nice but the proportions are way off from the original. Like most modern fedoras the crown is way too low and makes the wide brim appear out of proportion. This hats crown measures 3 3/4” in the front. The original is at least an inch higher. The brim listed as 2 3/8” is actually 2 3/4” which further makes it out of proportion for an authentic Whippet. It’s a very nice hat but not the real deal.
