Stetson Men's Whippet Royal Deluxe Fur Felt Hat - Premium Cowboy Hat for Western Style, Outdoor & Special Occasions

1st Amazon purchase: Tawny. Very comfortable and looks sharp!! This is my go to hat. Love it!! Everything was perfect!I like it so much I pulled the trigger on a second. This one in Caribou.BUYER BEWARE:2nd purchase: where do I begin? Firstly the hat didn't come in the described 150th Anniversay box as stated. The hat I was sent was a Sovereign and not the Royal Deluxe as advertised. Wait there's More! The ribbon wasn't even and might as well have been carelessly stapled on! The hat brim would not take a decent shape like the others. This Stetson unlike the other 4 I own did not fit my head like a glove. Matter of fact it was not the advertised size. The felt had a cheap texture unlike my others. What does this tell me? Whoever they used for the supplier likely ended up getting a reject off the line at the factory. I probably could have picked a better one out of the dumpster at HatCo (Stetson).My lesson learned. I WILL NEVER accept a product from that 3rd party seller ever again. Also if Amazon themselves don't ship it from their stash then it's a no go. Be aware of your rights here at Amazon. They have a guarantee. If you do not get the product you wanted. Send it back!! They have to honor it. This is not Stetson quality problem as they make a damn fine hat. As I wrote above I own 4. This is a 3rd ppl arty seller trying to pull one over on those who might not know enough about Stetson Quality to ask questions and send reject product back! I would post the name of the seller here but I want to have my refund honored first.Stetson today has improved its production of fine fur felt fedoras. The ones made today are superior in every way to those made 10 years ago. However they are a far cry from the great quality you will find in a vintage Stetson fedora made in in the 1940’s or 50s or even the 1960s. The fur felt today is made from rabbit when in the past it was a fur blend with lots of beavers, which produced a finer felt that is lighter, more durable and easier to shape. This Whippet reproduction is very nice but the proportions are way off from the original. Like most modern fedoras the crown is way too low and makes the wide brim appear out of proportion. This hats crown measures 3 3/4” in the front. The original is at least an inch higher. The brim listed as 2 3/8” is actually 2 3/4” which further makes it out of proportion for an authentic Whippet. It’s a very nice hat but not the real deal.I have 3 stetson's including this one and lots of other baseball caps and a LL Bean hiking hat. I had just purchased the Pawnee from Stetson after trying on a boat load of different styles of Stetsons at a local store and was set for a fall/winter hat, but tried this one on when it arrived for kicks and giggles. It was literally the most comfortable hat I ever put on my head! I kept it, I love it and it loves me:-)On a serious note, it's very soft, a great inner leather band which is also super soft. The brim easily shapes into a variety of positions as expected of a fedora, and has a satin (?unsure of material) edge. It has a wide brim which works well if you have a large jawline and a big ole head like I have. It would not be the hat for you if you have a smaller head or a heart shaped face. The crown is high, which may or may not work for you. The feather is beautiful, but of course that's not a huge deal as they are cheap and you can add your own for more flair if you like. It is made of rabbit and it is fairly warm, so it's likely not the hat for you during warm summers.Nice hatSadly this hat did not fit as my father expected it to, and it had to be returned. However, the hat was perfect in every other way, from the feel and stitching, down to its Stetson hatbox. Additionally, the seller was very helpful and even sent reduction tape free of charge to try and make it work.Its more of a tan, but the hat is well made, looks great and fits very nice so thats a 5 for me. It looked a little green, which I wanted. The tan will go with most anything, brown leather jackets...sport jacket...its on you to have the swagger is all. Stand out, put this one on and you are getting the second looks. I like the brim down in front, up in back. Store in its box.First hat I have ever owned and I always wanted a Stetson. The hat looks fantastic! One thing of note is that I purchased it through a third party seller first and I received a hat without the feather. I had to return it because I purchased the wrong size, but then when I repurchased directly from Stetson I got a hat with the feather, just as in the picture.This is my first Stetson Hat. It is great in quality and fit. The color is very retro, as is the style. Suits my desires just fine. I ordered one in Caribou, and am awaiting it's arrival. The seller, DelMonico Hatters has a good price, and free shipping, something lacking from other sellers. I am very pleased.It's two years later, and this is, by far, my most favorite hat. I wear it more often than any of my other hats, including the other Stetson's. I wear it with a brown suede bomber jacket, and together, they make a great combination. 2013Understated chic; great quality.The product was good but the packaging done was horrible with just one layer which was tampered a lot and the package was open and the hard box was wrinkled and the product was wrinkled as well, was expecting a good package but very disappointed.
